Historical Marker

Generally speaking, this area is for general discussion about things in general, in most cases.

I guess I ought to explain things a little better. The marker is at the State Orphans Home Cemetery Park. Meritt Drane among his many other accomplishments was called the Father of the State Home for all he did to get it up and running. When I was looking for a place to put the marker I couldn't think of a better place. I think he would be proud his marker is there.

Wayne,
Thanks for posting the video. Great piece of Texas history. And thanks for your efforts in making this happen.

Talked to a man yesterday who has lived in Corsicana since 1972. He said he would take the family out to the State Home on Sunday for lunch. Good down home cooking he described it. I enjoy hearing these stories. The home raised and butchered there own beef.
