Beatty Windmill Regulator

I've restored and use several US-made regulators and after watching the video on a Beatty regulator at Alec Peirce's Ranch, I've decided that I really need one! Anybody have one for sale? Anyone coming to the Trade Fair with one? (I'd prefer a complete one, but would consider all others...)

Hi Burt -
Did you ever get a regulator? If not, my friend has an Aermotor regulator (part # R201) if you're interested.

Thanks, Beverly!

Lately, I'ver been looking for regulators that I can rebuild and then mount them on the tower to test/demonstrate how they work. (I live in town and just have "spinners" on 20' towers.) It's been fun to watch my 10' Aermotor get pulled out of the wind, and then get released and start spinning/pumping again. I have several Aermotor regulators in my "things to do" pile but they seem pretty light duty to me. I don't know this, but I've wondered if they were made by the ACME Co.They have a really similar design and some of their parts might even interchange. Acme might have been making and selling regulators to other companies or maybe, was Aermotor making and rebranding them? As nicely made/designed as Aermotor machines are, their regulators seem pretty flimsy and I'm guessing Aermotor management didn't think it was worth making them. (By the way, Aermotor catalogs list two sizes of regulators and the larger one is REALLY big and heavy! No one I've talked to has ever seen one!)

I've been favoring FLINT and WALLING regulators as they are really straight-forward and built to be strong. When the tank float hits the "full" mark, it's fun to watch the pump rod ratchet the tail (and machine) out of the wind. This summer, I'm going to have a water tank next to the tower and then fill it with the garden hose and water the garden from it too. I'll be putting up my downwind 10" Duplex and hopefully, a Monitor L too, and I'm REALLY anxious to see how a regulator will open and close the wheels! (sometimes regulators have "open" and "close" settings for that purpose.) Both Duplex and Monitor catalogs list regulators for their machines. I'll also be putting up an ELI and a Southern Cross. Both of those machines "lift their tails" which should be fun to watch.

At any rate, I would really encourage folks to give it a try if you've got a regulator laying around!
