Repairing a keyway on a Dempster #12 main shaft
Will I have to preheat the main shaft to weld up the keyway with a mig welder? Trying to repair the loose keyway on the main shaft by welding then recut it on a mill. Don/t have to repair the whole keyway, just where the gears set. Thanks, Tom

Just recut it on the other side. problem solved.
