Hi guys, I am going to have to fabricate the dipper deal on an Aermotor 502 and would like to know if any of you had made one or might have drawings or measurements? I really didn't think I would ever own one so I have not taken the pictures of ones I saw in the past. Any help on any of the unusual 502 features would be much appreciated. I got a fairly complete case and tailbone. Thanks

Would it not be acceptable to maybe install a later 602 yoke with the oiling ring system? I have never see the inside of a 502 head. The flipper was a bad idea, as the mill turning backwards for any amount of time would bend the flipper and render is useless.

Yes Windy, you are right but right now I am thinking of of having my 502, 602, 702 and 802 all in a shed so people can see the difference, maybe I can find a 612 or other variants. I am wanting to tell the Aermotor Story more have working mills. Would be a fun display for a Trade Fair someday.

As long as it doesn't turn backwards you're good to go on that idea. Just wait till some little kid says "Hey mommie, look at this!" and starts spinning the wheel backwards LOL

Speaking of variants, looks like you'll be looking for around 15 different 602 mills. All those patent numbers and dates on a 602 case were for all the 'improvements' they did through the years.

LOL, I will buy all the different ones I can afford so that may not be many more. I would like to find a Bell Hub just to give an example of how they changed over the years. How many odd ones have you seen Windy?

There were quite a few different open gear models too. You had the original 88-89 model with the vertical spring and Spyder hub. Then the transition Bell Hub with vertical spring in1890, and the regular Bell Hub up to 1897which they made a 10ft model that year. And then in 1898 the timken bearings Bell Hub came out and then the model 99, the 1903 model and then the R. A model until the first oil bath in 1915. I think I got them all !!.

Not many. As far as I know, they have been conventional mills. However the 602 models I have seen variants with are maybe 6 or so.

Most odd things in my shop are me and the helpers.
