Looks like the fan drives it by a chain drive. Don't know where the fan was mounted though.

Looks to me like those two pillow block bearings that support the main shaft bolt to the base plate between the gear box and the pump rod. Then a chain goes from sprocket to sprocket. The gearbox must convert rotary motion to reciprocating motion and the tail bone bolts to that 'C' shaped bracket.
