Mike,

Windy or someone else might have better answers, but I’d think an Aermotor vane spring would work fine.

I seem to recall my Dempster 10’ #15 vane spring is smaller than that of a 10’ Aermotor vane spring, but bigger than that of an 8’ Aermotor vane spring. The 10’ Dempster allows for some adjusting by the brake rod clevis assembly. I can measure my 10’ Dempster vane spring this evening, if no one else does. I don’t have any spare vane springs, but I do have an 8’ and 10’ Aermotor vane springs to provide a size comparison.

Couple of photos that might explain better than I did.

The red spring is for an 8’ Aermotor and is about 24” inches length.

The middle spring is what came with my 10’ #15 and is also about 24”, but the coils are more stout than the 8’ Aermotor.

The black spring is for a 10’ Aermotor and is about 30” and is closer to the coil size of the Dempster 10’.

That's a nice reference. dempster 6 and 8 ft tailsprings are one in the same. Aermotors are not. However we use 8 ft Aermotor springs for 6 ft Dempsters, they seem to furl much nicer than Dempster springs. We still like to use Dempster springs on 8 ft Dempsters. I never could figure out why a more 'easy' spring was not used on a 6 ft Dempster. The 8 ft Aermotor does it.

Mike, let me use my magic powers real quick... *BAM*. Now go look tucked in the angle iron of the tail vane for that 10ft.
