Getting ready to assemble my USWE model D and could use some tips on painting and priming. I’ve done my Halladay Standard and used Por15 for durability with a coat of Por15 Top coat for UV protection. It was done in black and the D will be done in what I call Bud Lite Blue
. All advise would be appreciated, yours too Jud. Thanks, Will

Here's an idea....paint every part a different color, so people can see how they all work together. Then they can all make fun like they do with me. haha There is a back-story to this.

New guy here. Quick question. What color was the head painted on the Fairbanks Morse WG?

Thanks Wayne.
I happen to have a quart of John Deere green and a quart of Massey Ferguson red in my shop.
Would either one be close?
I don't want the Windmill Police ticketing me for bad taste.

Haha! Good question. I just came from the bone pile, I could have looked. Will need to check under nuts and bolts, as I don't remember seeing anything in a color. Don't think it was very good paint.

Good to see some folks have memories. lol That was an eternity ago. I have changed viewing strategy. I use close-to factory colors now. I will be re-doing those earlier mills in the future, but for now I have a half dozen or so in original colors. I was surprised at how many people liked the different colors when viewing them.

Your right Windy about the colors not staying around on the heads. Don't worry about being able to identify the true colors. When they are 25 or 30 feet in the air it hides a lot of flaws.
