Hi Everybody -
Out poking around Weld County in Colorado and came across this guy. It's got a Wonder tail, and I suspect a Challenge Steel side vane and governor weight? Did the Steel have a governor weight? The Field Guide mentions a "multiplying lever".
Thanks in advance for any thoughts

Don't believe it's a Elgin wonder Mill they were oil baths. Could be a open gear Elgin don't see them up here. Looks like the tower was stubbed maybe. Don't know about the side vane looks like a add on.im thinking a Johnny Cash Mill.

Multiplying lever in Dempster terms is an arm the sticks out of the head up close to the tail pivot. Makes the spring work a little different. Or it stick out from the tail pivot. either way, it gives the spring a different action. Not sure about what you have there. Side vanes are for the wind to push to help get the wheel out of the wind.

That looks like an Eclipse Head that someone has put a Wonder vane on. Eclipse had the side vane. The weight arm looks like what's on a n Eclipse the weight being different.

Well if you haven’t run across Tony Baloney yet, you likely have now seen his work! One of the redo I did of his work was at Frightmare where he twisted the top of an Aermotor tower to fit up to a monitor tower cap and attached the storm stay in a twist below to put a 10’ Monitor on a 8’ 3 leg Aer tower. His work really doesn’t quite fit the creativity category...

For a second there I thought another Terrible Swede had been found! Just an Eclipse though as mentioned. Here's the only Terrible Swede I'm aware of that has been discovered.
