F&W Star 37 -- 12 foot -- Crosshead. Museum breakdown.

Local Museum in next town to me had a poor weld break in the crosshead of their functioning Flint & Walling Star 37. But it is a 12-foot mill. So I'm trying to help find that part for them. I've already checked with Dan B. He has none. Neither does Steve Adams. It is different from my working 10 foot, so size is important. Spokane windmiller and friend who will do the repairs says he'd also like to find a par of pitman arms to go with it, but not required. Especially need Crosshead and pin. Thanks, Dennis in E WA state.

Wonder if another model windmill could be made to fit. Like maybe 12 ft Dempster or something. Maybe can post a picture with some measurements on it?

Might get something else to fit, but I don't have the pieces. I think the windmiller in Spokane may have them. I did see a photo somewhere of that part in the 8-foot mill configuration.

I can’t think of any other brand/mode crosshead that will work. Dennis if they want to send me the old one I could maybe fix it but I would like to see a picture of it and how it’s broken before I would agree to that or waste their money shipping it if it’s beyond repair.

I had some single pieces cast at Tomahawk foundry. Maybe you could have one done. You would need to work it out with someone who has one for a pattern. What they charged me for casting was reasonable, but i forget the amount now.

Sorry about the delay. I think it's in Wisconsin. I was designing a new windmill head, and they cast a couple gear blanks for me. I made a pattern and sent it.
