Stover Samson 6' ft. or 6.5 ft. windmill

Post by Jim Corcoran »

I have a acquired a 3 post Stover tower that is in need of a mill. I'd like to find a Sampson Air Flow (my first choice) or some other 6 foot Stover mill to complete it. I'd prefer something fairly complete and in need of a rebuild but will entertain looking at anything that is available.

Thanks in advance for any advice or leads.

So it sounds like you wish to perform a good marriage.

I would like an Air-Flow also. If you find a set of twins, let me know.

Bob,
Will do. I know very little about Stover/Samson windmills but it appears a 6 foot Model S or M would work for me as well. Although, the unique tail vane on the Air Flow would look more interesting on my tower.

I was over at the boneyard today spraying weeds. ( way too late) Seems I have several Stovers of various breeds and sizes, but not really sure what the collection consists of until I get things more sorted out. Getting harder and harder to see anything with all the rain and growth this year. I have some pit-liner I will put down, and move everything on to it. Then finally I won't need to spray as much, and will be able to see most of the stuff.

Still looking for a 6 foot Stover Samson. Will be traveling to Nebraska City on Labor day and will be in that part of the country for 2-3 days so will be able to pick one up while there. Will be traveling IH35/335 from Austin to Topeka. Any leads would be greatly appreciated.

No. I'm looking for a Samson Model S, Model M, or Air flow. The literature says the OIl-Rite Models S and M came in 6 foot and the Air-Flow in 6-1/2 foot.

Yes. I have 8 footers. Was looking for a 6 footer when I needed some parts for my re-store, but I just saw 8 footers. If I did have a 6, it would only be a head. Would that work?

Bob,
Just a head would be okay depending on how complete it is. I'm looking for something I can rebuild rather than something already rebuilt. This is just a project to put up in my back yard for fun. It won't be pumping water.
