OK, to top off everything else that went wrong this week, I got a 4ftx4 inch deep well cylinder to rebuild. I got a set of 4 inch leathers for it and they fit fine, the only problem is, the skirt, or whatever you call the part that hangs down on the outside of the original ones was about twice as long as the leather that is bent over and hanging down the side of the new ones. So, I got lots of brass showing between leathers. Do you think this is a problem? I have looked all over the net and can't find any long ones. Any ideas? Thanks, I am kind of in a pinch.

I would try them. How deep is it going to be?

300ft of 3 inch pipe in 14 ft joints, not exactly something I want to do several times if you know what I mean.

Oh my. That's a TON of water pressure. If you can't find something with a taller wall, what else can you do? The water will still force the leather onto the cylinder wall, so it should seal. However are you worried about folding the leather over? How many leathers are on the plunger? Hopefully 3 at least.

It has 4 on it, I would say my leathers are a good 1/2 short. I thought about getting some hydraulic cylinder scrappers and stack in there (the white nylon things) just to take up the space so nothing went where it shouldn't? I don't really know what to do. Thanks

There was a guy that made leathers at the last Trade Fair at Kendallville. No clue on contact info, but I believe I remember him being talked about in the past. It seams he was from that general area.

Thanks, I talked to Dean Bennet company and they said not to worry about it so I guess I will try these. I would like to make some leathers eventually, just because I want to do it, not that it will save any money, need to find some information on that. I think I am good now, thanks everyone.
