Customer Maintenance Requirements??

I am curious what my fellow windmille'rs do to instruct their customers (on final sale or installation) what is required of the owner to maintain their windmills. The do's and dont's. All suggestions are appreciated.

whenever they go out to check cattle at the mill, look up. If the oil is pouring out, call me. If it has minor seepage, don't. That could be normal. Change oil once a year, lube all outside areas of movement. Other than that, please send a check. lol

Lol, Windy. Great advice. I been instructing my people to put a fence around your windmill or the cows and horses will use as a scratching post and then you will be calling me back.

Oh yeah. I'm always torn between telling the farmers to block the tower off, or to leave it open for the cattle to get in and break off the pipe tree. ( repeat business lol)

I explain how the governing system works and tell 'em the windmill is designed to govern itself in anything short of a hurricane, don't worry about it... but if you know there is a bad storm coming, it's a good idea to put the brake on. I tell 'em never ever even think of chaining or tying the wheel and leaving it that way. I explain how to change oil and how much and what oil to use and how to adjust the brake and then I ask if they want me to put them on the "call when in the area" service list and 9 times out of 10 they say yes.
