For anyone that might be interested there is an upcoming auction in Sigourney Iowa, October 11th that has a 18 foot Challenge 27 listed, along with an Aermotor and what appears to be a Monitor "L" by the picture.

Auction listed @ Aumann Vintage Power.

If you go, you will probably run across Gehman's of Great Plains Windmill since they are less 20 miles away. Tell them hi and hope they are doing well.

I'd attend if in my neck of the woods. How much interest do you think they'll be in the Challenge? I wonder which day it will auction.

Ron, the auctioneers site said, they had a local service that could take the windmills down. Probably your friends?? Would be interesting to go to the auction, will have to see what is going on.

Paul, send me a blank (signed) check and we will make sure you get the Challenge. :D

Got a note back from the auctioneer, the windmills sell on Saturday. I may try to go just for the fun of it. It is 1 1/2 hour drive for me.

Paul, if you are there, look for the short guy with white hair and black cap. It might be me. :-)

It is not a real good pic of the Challenge but looks to be on an Aermotor tower?

In the neck of the woods I grew up in, if there was an Amish or Mennonite sitting on a piece of equipment at an auction they were buying it and there was no use trying. So Paul I would recommend sitting on the platform and bidding from up there. Or you could do what I did when I bought my first pump hoist at auction, I put my arm in the air when the bidding started and never took it down until I heard "sold". There is just enough Mennonite in me 7 generations later.

Thanks for the advice Ron :)

The mills are listed under the farm antiques section, which is listed as auctioning on Friday. Glad you checked Gregg. I asked twice about mills and have yet to receive a response.
