Hello! Six months ago, I move back to the farm that I grew up on. The windmill was already there, when my grandparents bought the farm in 1949. I’m told that a bearing went out on the mill and the wheel was removed, in 1967. Since then a few parts have gone missing but, I would still like to put the mill back together. It is a Dempster 8foot 12A.

Welcome aboard. Lots of knowledgeable folks on here. It’s rebuildable, but you would need to get it down to rebuild it.

Looks like the front bearing went out, and chewed the shaft off. Hubs and end of shaft are gone. This is common for these. Once you get it down, we can see what you have to work with.
Wait a minute.... something isn't right here. Brake shoe is gone too, and I don't see the ears on the top of the snout. Curious.
You said they took the fan off...did they pull the whole shaft and all out? that's pretty tough to do way up in the air.

I agree about hard to do up in the air plus it looks to be way up in the air. Seems to be a tall tower.
