I'm researching some families of Navarro co from 1850 forward. While at the County Clerks office looking for deeds. I came across an Agreement and Contract with the name I was searching for from 1871. It ended up not being the same lady I was searching for there names were the same. As I read the document I realized it was a Prenuptial Agreement. The lady had Lands and testaments of considerable value and she didn't want him to get his hands on them. She had jewels, furniture, stock namely Mules,Horses, cattle and Hogs. She would have full control of these items for her disposal as if she were unmarried. Also she wouldn't be responsible for any of his debts. I guess I never thought of Pre-Nups in the 1800's. He agreed I guess he was tired of sleeping by himself.
