What does a Star 37 cost? or what's a fair price for one?

Star Zephyr, value depends on condition, restored, not restored, etc.
Someone else will have to put a value on it.

I got the external parts mocked up today. Still need a few things for it
but it is mostly complete.

Thanks for pointing me to your project. Yours is like mine with the eye bolt on the swivel. But the fin bracket will swing all the way around and almost hit the brake mechanism before it stats with tension. Is that normal?

Doesn't sound like it. Check your brake bar. The round bar that engages the brake band.
It should be around 15" long total. Start with that and reply back.
Post pictures so we can see what your working with.

Bought a ranch a few years ago that has a windmill on it. Only one half of one sail still attached and it needed near 20 MPH wind to turn it but it turned. Found the beat up tail, some broken sails and misc parts scatted a few yards away.

Recently got it on the ground where I could work on it. It is a F&W Star 8 footer on a 40 ft tower best I can tell from the numbers. Internally it looks rebuildable as there was just enough oil to keep it going but several external parts are missing.

Where is the best place to buy parts? I'll need all 5 sections of the sail. It will need new ballbearings, tail spring and brackets. Is there a place like Aeromotor in San Angelo that still sales parts?

Thanks in advance.

George

PS: What is the trick to removing the motor from the stub tower?

George,

Dan Benjamin is a great source of supply. He goes by windmillsrus on here and is out of South Dakota. If you search his name on the top right in “search” someone has posted his email and phone # in the past. I don’t like to post anyone’s contact info because of spam.
