I had my favorite machinist install brass bushings to repair the worn holes for the tail pin.
He also made a new tail pin.
Beautiful,,,,

Re: A 702 bushings
both bushings are held in place with a set screw,
make replacement easier next time, another 75 years when my son has to do some repair .

Re: A 702 bushings
Remember the brass will were faster than the cast iron did. I would guess 50 years. LOL

Re: A 702 bushings
You will need to make an even plane on top of the case at the top tail pin hole for when the mill furls. When the mill furls either by pulling in the lever or high winds, the flat strap of the bone has to rotate 90 degrees and should do it over an even plane to work properly. In addition to worn tail pin holes, your case is worn from the bone.
This is a nickel rod repair of a tail pin and the surface that the flat strap of the bone pivots on.
We just went thru some cases that were professionally rebuilt with tail pins having been repaired with nickel and actually welded in the holes. Rebuilds were dated and had 1/8" of wear in 17 years. Wear in nickel repairs is similar time frame to the import castings of Aermotor clone cases.
