Re: 6’ Open Gear Currie Project
The literature says the hardwood bearings are boiled in oil and “will never wear out.” Apparently it’s still covered by factory warranty.

Re: 6’ Open Gear Currie Project
Here’s a couple pics & video link of the 6’ Currie “rustoration.” I mounted to my trailer so I can take it outside for pics. Btw the bearings are wood too. I did nothing to them other than squirt some oil on them. Haven’t decided what to do with it yet…back in the barn for now.

Re: Wincharger Streamliner
Appreciate the kind words Mike….That would be the Samsung $18B chip plant. It’s 10 miles north of here but it does light up the sky at night. Then there’s Elon’s place 15 miles south. We’re surrounded. I’ll keep the visits informal and anyone’s welcome.

Re: 6’ Open Gear Currie Project
Interesting…Was the brake an option? Wincharger brake drums were from model T e-brakes. 8” and 10” were used. The shoe is steel since they’re only used to hold it off, not regulate speed.

Is that green hub original? I haven’t seen that before. Are the blades and tail original? They look perfect….Thanks for sharing.

Wincharger Streamliner
I finished this project back in December. I had posted pics on a FB group.

6’ Open Gear Currie Project
More of a preservation project. I like the original patina look. The wheel shown is actually the donor wheel but I need most of those vanes, just need to iron out a few wrinkles. Dan B. provided the tower cap, stay and vane swivel. Tailbone from Thomas Garnett and tail vane from Jimmie Christensen ...

Re: Is this a Project? My Newly Found 32v Wincharger
It’s the first 32v Wincharger mfg beginning in 1936. Looks mostly complete. I didn’t see a stub tower in your pics and the controller is for a 6V. You can find this entire brochure for that model at the link below. Nice that the cast iron cone is there. It was common for those to fall off and break ...
