A quick update. The weather is hot and I have been moving slowly but have the fan on and going to start on the tail.

It does seem like it is two steps forward and one back. I was looking closely at the brazing repair and it didnot look good so i pulled at it and it can free. I have found someone to braze it. He used to own a welding shop in Earth Texas, and lives close to me. Does not have the equipment to weld ...

Too funny Mike. I will try to take it down a little just to ensure that the wheel doesn't bind and shim the rest of the difference. I will let y'all know how that works.

Thanks for confirming Dan. I was thinking that but I am thinking that Windy is right the Babbitt is higher than the old one and apparently it does not take much.

The wheel is still free at the top of the stroke. I can spin it with my hand so is seems ok.

Not sure what I am doing wrong. There is a lot of space between the ear and A551. Unfortunately it has been too long ago since I took it apart. I could put a spacer in.
I turned it over but that doesn,t seem right either

This windmill came from my Grandad's farm just east of San Angelo in a German community called Wall. I also grew up about 20 miles west of San Angelo.
