Nice rig, I have a knuckle truck with a winch on the boom that I can use that works great for erecting towers and working over cylinders, but usually I just hang some pulleys on the top and bottom and have a wife run the skid loader, I also have a 40' JLG lift that makes life MUCH easier.
The 404 ...

Re: A-702 leak
I used to import them 25 years ago or so, have had lots of them from the 404 up to the 424, I have only one 404 with a hard cab, radio box and a 5 cyl 3.0L turbo diesel now.
I ran one in the 1995 4wheeler top truck challenge, it had a 2.8L 280S engine in it.

Re: A-702 leak
I did look at the pitman arm and the helmet and they are definitely not hitting but I did not think about if they were close enough it could "push" the oil up under the lip, that would be exactly where it would leak.

Re: A-702 leak
This is the third helmet, I have swapped them between two mills and the problem stayed with this mill, this particular helmet was purchased new.

A-702 leak
I just wondered if anyone else has ever seen this problem.
I built this A-702 (Chicago) about 6-7 years ago, and it has always leaked around the helmet, I of course have inspected the casting for flaws or cracks and this is the third helmet (this was a new one from San Angelo on the mill now) In ...

F702 install
It will be awhile until I am ready to install my F702 16ft mill but I have a couple questions.
I have seen videos showing how it is done, I have enough equipment to install the tower etc. but will have to hire a crane to install the mill.
SOO,, it is assembled on its nose, tail up, lifted by its ...

Replace brake band A702
Sorry if this is redundant, I did a search but did not find the answer,
has anyone successfully replaced the brake band on an "installed" A702 or would the band be so distorted by the time it was stretched enough to go around the housing to make it unworkable?

Re: Another Newbie
Appropriately enough I have a small ranch in Papalote, TX, so destiny dictates I have windmills.
For those that don't know, Papalote means windmill in Spanish, actually it is derived from a Karankawan Indian word for "wing shaped rock" which they found along the banks of Papalote creak, about a mile ...

Another Newbie
Hello all, just joined the forum, new to forum but not windmills, all my mills are vintage Aermotor.
I have 3 mills in water pumping service at this time, 2 A702s on 21' towers pulling 3 1/2" cylinders
1 B602 on its original 27' tower pulling a 3 1/2" cylinder, I was told this mill sat on the ...
