Re: Diag Ancient Windcharger 32 volt 1500 watt

I've had good luck motoring 32 volt generators on 12 volts or 24 volts DC.

Re: vintage windmill - modern electricty

When I first started working with wind energy, I found a few people trying this, and it never worked well. An electrical generator needs to spin fairly fast, and a water pumper needs real high starting torque but spin fairly slowly, and the two aren't very compatible. It might give enough energy to ...

Re: Lubbock Trip

Wayne, we did make it to the Ranch Heritage center too, had a long full day with that and the Wind Museum and me recovering from knee replacement which meant I was walking slower than usual and resting often. We thought about going to the Fibermax center but ran out of time. Next time we hope to ...

Re: Wind charger signs

That Winpower sign is new enough to have zip code, so it must be from the 1970s when they were considering (and maybe doing) reintroducing wind turbines. I came across a letter and/or brochure from Winpower from the 1970s talking about the advantages of wind power for electrical generation. Not sure ...

Re: Lubbock Trip

We got down to Lubbock while visiting our son in Pueblo, Colorado and got to spend time at the windmill museum. Well worth the trip, it was bigger and better than I had expected and all that I had hoped for--well it would have been nice to have more wind generators and to have the ones there ...

Wind Power 2500 watt SOLD

IMG_20220818_102010268.jpg I have 2 Wind Power 2500 watt wind turbines for sale. One I got for parts, it has a bad armature. The other one I have had for over 40 years, used it for a few years, had the armature rewound, and it has been in my shed for decades. I am moving and they both need to go ...

Jacobs 1800 watt SOLD

P1060999.JPG I have an 1800 watt 32 volt Jacobs for sale, complete except for the lower tower casting. The generator motors nicely on 24 volts but should probably have new bearings and brushes, and have the commutator turned to be good for another 20 years of use. I'm moving and don't have room to ...

Re: Unusual Wind Power Feature

I have 2 of the 2500 watt Wind Powers, got the first one back in the 1970s from the daughter of the original owner, who installed it in 1934 or 35, and used it to run our off-grid home for a few years until the armature burned out and I put up a Jacobs. I had it rewound and used it for a while later ...

Re: For Sale: Famous Jacobs Wind Electric 1.8kW, 32VDC Wind Turbine

Somewhere I have photos of the setup at Windworks from one of our visits there in the 1970s.
