Hi. I want to confirm that an old Windcharger works, but I don't have 32 volts handy. Would anybody know what the resistance should be on the windings?
Spinning with a low speed drill gives less then 1 volt. Thanks.

I don’t recall the resistance numbers offhand. If you’re reading 1V then at least the windings have continuity and that’s from the residual magnetism. You probably just need a little more speed for it to start self exciting. It also looks like a newer model, 1970s era. There’s a great article on the testing the 32V machines at Wincharger.com called “Long Live Old Wincos,” link below.

Good article. Looks like supposed to be 60 ohms.Kurtis wrote: Thu Jul 28, 2022 7:00 pmThank you Mike.Wind Charger Mike wrote: Thu Jul 28, 2022 5:58 pm I don’t recall the resistance numbers offhand. I've had good luck motoring 32 volt generators on 12 volts or 24 volts DC.

I havue a winpower generator 1800w 32vdc. I would like to set up this gen for an inverter. I am assuming that the gen charges the batteries and when they are fully charged the voltage regulator cuts out to keep from overcharging the batteries. It looks to me like all I would have to do is connect an inverter to the batteries. Has any of you folks tried this? Would like some input. I have the original control panel. Thanks, Mo

Mo, We ran our wind generators, 2500 watt WindPower and later 2500 watt Jacobs, both 32 volt, with battery sets and inverters. For the last 20+ years of usage the Jacobs (supplemented by solar electric panels in recent years) charging a 24 volt fork lift truck battery which ran a 4kw 24 volt Trace inverter, which powered our farm and charged our car. We moved to town a couple of years ago and sold the wind turbines.
