Aermotor tower

Generally speaking, this area is for general discussion about windmills, in most cases.

Aermotor tower

Post by 63markB »

I ran across this very tall tower today. It has 7 girts, the bottom one is 114”. The bottom of the “bottom legs” have been cut off right below the bottom girt so it is only about 1’ AGL. If those legs had not been cut I believe the base dimensions would be 130”. What puzzles me is from what I can find the 8’ mills had a maximum height of 47’. This one would be 52’. Any input would be welcomed.

According to this old literature (not sure of the date), you could presumably buy one 80’ in height tower for the 8’. No way I’d climb an 80’ tower.

That’s interesting Michael. I won’t hardly climb a 21’. But I have a lift I will use. Man that would be way up there on 2X2 legs

Thanks Dan, that certainly matches on the number of girts. It has some part numbers and they seem to match and it has four sections. All sections should be 13’8”

I climbed an 80 ft tower once. WHen I got back to earth, my fingers were white, and hurt really bad.
Call Dan Benjamin for parts. P M me for the phone number. IF YOU TALK TO HIM, AND HE HELPS YOU, THEN BUY FROM HIM. IT CREATES GOOD KARMA.
