Babbitt Bearings Pouring Video

Post by JBarker »

Here is a good babbitt bearings pouring video. Even though it's not on a windmill, it still was educational. Thanks.

Jerry,
Thanks for posting this. Very informative for someone who has never done this. If I had anything that used babbitt bearings, I'd give it a try.

Not yet. I disassembled it for storage. In the process of restoring the Monitor V that will go on it.

I have been watching Keith Rucker's videos for the last few years. He is very informative. If you like seeing machinist work, this is a good "channel" to watch.

Jim, if you ever need help pouring babitt I have all the "stuff " required. I poured my A702 bearing , only took 4 attempts , but that windmill is up and spinning now. It was a FUN experience.
I would be glad to help.

Here's another video on babbitt pouring by Keith Rucker on a sugar cane mill. The principles are the same for windmills. Jerry

I am trying my hand at babbit pourings on my Red Cross.
I will have to get a few things but I am willing to learn. Like they say, if it's not right melt it out and try again.

Is there anything wrong with using used Babbitt. I have some old and some new. I believe AJ Woodack mentioned he used 1/2 used and 1/2 new. Any comments?
