8.5 ft Eclipse windmill

I need the measurements to reproduce the tails on my Ec;lipse 8.5 mill. Can anyone here help me out? I know Paul Cowley in Texas had them , sady he is no longer with us. Thanks for any help. W Opp

I bought Paul's stuff for making the blade sections and one of the jigs is for the 8.5 ft Eclipse I'll look through the documents he may have the measurements wrote somewhere. May take me a day or two.

I hope you were able to buy all his computer files. He had a lot of drawings and measurements on his computer. It would be a shame if no one had them. There was a time I offered to buy them, but he was not ready to let them go yet. Thanks for looking W Opp

What kind of measurements? No he didn't offer any computer files. I have boxes of paper files. And lots of jigs and forms. I know I'll never use most of them. My collecting days are pretty well over. I'm rebuilding the wheel for my Axtell Standard and hope to get it up and my 12 ft Eclipse. Maybe a Freeman Improved Clipper and my Currie oil bath. Then I'll start selling whats left. Set in my chair and watch them spin.

In the paper work I did not have any measurements for a Vane. I do have measurements for the blades and spars. And a jig to cut them. There was a pattern for the side vane. I have a 10 ft Standard and a 12 ft Eclipse. It's weird when I measured my 10 ft side vane the boards were shorter 26 5/8 to 27 for the 8.5. The boards were cut smaller for the 8.5 2 3/4 to 1 1/2 , 3 to 1 5/8 for my 10ft. Maybe my 10ft is wrong. I measured the total length of my 10 ft vane it was 7ft 6 inches at it's longest point. The 12 ft vane is 9 ft 4 inches. Looking at that a 6ft 6inch long vane might be about right for the 8.5 ft. I got some other measurements off the 10 ft vane but would have to draw a picture and send it to show them. so if anyone wants a picture send me your email.

I got this drawing done for a 8.5 foot Eclipse.
This is a new tail that I bought from someone.
I am working on a drawing for the small tail.
This will also work on any 8.5 foot windmill that was made off of the Eclipse copy.
