Samson steel

Post by Centex Windmills »

Well we added another one to our collection this weekend. A 16 foot Samson steel, that is complete minus a storm stay and some oiler caps. Always loved the steel, and always wanted a big mill so when this came up had to jump on it. It Is a daunting project just by the shear size but we will build a custom stand and get to work on it hopefully later this year or early next year. It's in amazing condition for its age, with a near perfect fan, and tower, and two tails.

The one at herf and old San Antonio Rd?

When we lived in San Antonio my wife worked in Boerne and we drove past it all the time.

Is there another one?

I was visiting Boerne one time and admired that big Samson. I found another windmill close to I 10 on the road that hoes out to a resort. I stopped and was looking at it through the gate. The house looked abandoned had some broken windows I could see so I climb the gate and was admiring the windmill. It was still hooked up even had a hand pump under it. I started hearing something I at first thought it was the Lord speaking to me until I realized it was coming from the house. A man was living in the old rackity house. Gave him my name to give to the owners to see if I could buy it. I think it was a smaller Samson. Never heard anything don't know, the windmill may still be there.
