Ran across this today. I'll have to add it to my list of things to see when in Nebraska.

Re: When in Nebraska
Hmmmm . . .
Very few windmill companies ever built self-oiling wooden wheel windmills. There was the Dempster No. 11, the Star Model 26, and the Fairbury No. 8. The view of the self-oiling case is very poor, but enough to eliminate the Dempster No. 11 or the Star Model 26. Seriously wondering if its the Fairbury. The wheel hub looks like Fairbury; the hood looks a bit like Fairbury.
Need a better pic, especially of the motor.
Know for certain that all three were direct stroke, and that the Dempster and F & W products were available with either wood or steel wheels. I think the Fairbury No. 8 also was available with either type of wheel, but I might be wrong about that.
Challenge 27
P.S. Hopefully some collector has one of these, and will post a few pics.
P.P.S. Looks like a neat museum to visit someday.

Re: When in Nebraska
Nebraska is matter of fact with a tourist slogan of "Nebraska. Honestly, it is not for everyone!" ranks right up there with me! Ranking in the last 5 states for tourist destinations keeps all the riff raff out...

Re: When in Nebraska
Drove into North Platte after dark from the south. Was amazed how far in the distance you could see the lights of houses. I enjoyed the drive through the flat land with some rolling hills the next day.
