Aermotor steel tower dimensions needed

Post by Arj »

Hello everyone,

As you can read in my other posts i restoring an old Aermotor 702.

I dont have a tower and thinking about build one myself, i can buy a new one but shipping to my country is too expenive.
Better option is buy some galvanised angled steel and build one myself.

Question is : what size of angled steel do i need ? Whats is the steel size from an original tower ?

Part of it depends on what size Windmill. Bigger windmill heaver duty angle iron. You might look in the literature section of the forum. I bet there is a document that will give you all the answers you need

I made a tower recently for a 8’ (non-Aermotor) windmill and I used 2” X 3/16” galvanized angle and I believe it will hold up fine.

Most towers here are for both 8 and 6 ft mills. The going size is 2 or 2 1/2 by 1/8 inch. I think in the catalogs, most 6 ft's are good for 8 ft's also.
Call Dan Benjamin for parts. P M me for the phone number. IF YOU TALK TO HIM, AND HE HELPS YOU, THEN BUY FROM HIM. IT CREATES GOOD KARMA.

Is the cross bracing 3/4 or 1 inch by 1/8th angle. Then the Girts are 1 1/4 or 1 1/2 by 1/8th.
