Beatty Windmill

Post by jerryd »

Hello all,
Beginning my first windmill project. It is a later mode l Beatty. All disassembled except the main shaft with hub. Nut is off, connecting rods off, set screws released but I cannot pull the hub and shaft. Tapped with a lead hammer but nothing moving. What am I missing? any help appreciated.

Hi Jerry, yes lots of penetrating oil and patience. Sometimes if they are really rusted bad you have to sacrifice the shaft and use the torch to get the gears out. The shaft is easy to replace, gears and hub are hard to find. post some pictures so we can see.

By the way, I'm in Eastern Ontario near Ottawa
