Dempster sail departure

Post by DavidABarclay »

Good evening. It’s been a while since I’ve been in the forum. Hope everyone is doing well.
So last week I woke up to this horrible metallic crashing noise coming from the front of my property.
I had no idea what is was coming from. As I got closer to my windmill I realized that one of my sails had come loose and was smashing into the one next to it. I ended up strapping my wheel to my tower until I had time to look at the damage.
This evening I finally got up my tower and discovered that the two top bolts had come loose and sheared off the inner sail clip.
So with this said I was looking to see if anyone had a spare sail for my Dempster 8ft. #12 for sale?
I’m located in beautiful Bulverde Texas and don’t mind a drive if you’re close. If not we can discuss shipping.
Thank you and God Bless.

You might try Dan Benjamin, if no one local has one.

I have a few 8’ #12 sections from a fallen windmill, so the blades all have some bend or worse. One blade could be pulled off and straightened up. The patina is rustic on mine. Yours, from prior posts, look to possess good galvanization.

Thanks for the replies. I might try to fix my sail.
Going to try to fabricate a new clip in my shop tomorrow. I’ll let you know how it goes.
Thank you again.

yep. also, the clips are the same for the 6 and 8 ft mills.

I made jigs and fixtures to make them. Also made presses to bend them.
Call Dan Benjamin for parts. P M me for the phone number. IF YOU TALK TO HIM, AND HE HELPS YOU, THEN BUY FROM HIM. IT CREATES GOOD KARMA.

There you go new clips guaranteed to fit. One thing about clips their lite so it won't take a loan to ship them.

Thanks again. I have plans of taking my wheel off and do some maintenance on it. I’ll be in touch with Windy when I get it in my shop. But for now it’s spinning again.
