Good suggestions
I might use a patch of flattened copper pipe propped inside and try solder. I have some old lead type solder and I do not intend to lick it.
And who is going to see it up high
I just saw that one of my two beatty hoods has a gasket. Is this normal? . I will improvise something.
Thanks all

I know that Dempster helmets are soldered at all the joints. I use rope for gaskets in helmets that need it.
Call Dan Benjamin for parts. P M me for the phone number. IF YOU TALK TO HIM, AND HE HELPS YOU, THEN BUY FROM HIM. IT CREATES GOOD KARMA.

Re: new in Canada
I have worked on many Beattys but have never seen a gasket under the helmet.
Re: new in Canada
Thanks for the quick reply
So this hood has a fibrous type stuff in the groove. it was off the 39/42 gear box. So good idea or bad?
The other hood of previous cast head none.
Well every time I spend some time on this project I have more questions, so here is another.
As I am cleaning up the spokes I see two different returns on the end . Are they different years or different mills?
Thanks for your time

Re: new in Canada
I have never noticed different lengths on the end of the spokes, maybe one is earlier and they changed the length over the yeras. Or one is homemade.
