Booth (McDonald) windmill

Post by Golly »

Hi - I am a new member & live in Hawkes Bay New Zealand
I have recently aquired a Booth windmill. It is a "Self Oiler" made in the late 1940's - but probably pre war design. It was made by Booth McDonald - probably in Christchurch NZ and probably the design was copied from an overseas unit.

My windmill is pretty much complete - down to the ratchet handle for altering the position of the tail. There is no cable from the ratchet & I don't know how this is supposed to work.

Can anyone help with info or diagrams or photos.

Cheers

Welcome to the site! Might help if you can post a few pictures. Info on those types of mills would be pretty scarce here. A few pictures would help in seeing what type of mill they resemble, if any. Pictures of the lower side of the head, or the end of the pipe that comes out the bottom of the mill head in particular.
Call Dan Benjamin for parts. P M me for the phone number. IF YOU TALK TO HIM, AND HE HELPS YOU, THEN BUY FROM HIM. IT CREATES GOOD KARMA.

Yeah the folks at The Windmiller's Journal might want to see pictures of your windmill. Be sure and contact them as Gregg suggested.
