I was mistaken it continues to taper all the way to 3 inch angle at the bottom all has the same identification marks doesn't look to be pieced together
Re: aermotor tower
I think a few pictures would be helpful.

Re: aermotor tower
Here are some dimensions to determine what you might have:
Distance from tower top to mast base hole- 6/8 is 13, 10 is 16 and 12 is 19.
Distance from tower top to platform hole- 6/8 is 40, 10 is 48 and 12 is 57(main).
Corner angle dimension for Chicago era- 6/8 is 2.25 x 1/8, 10 is 2.5 x 1/8 and 12 is 3 x 1/8.
Corner angle dimension for 802 & newer: 6/8 is 2 x 3/16, 10 is 2.5 x 3/16 and 12 is 2.5 x 3/16.
Corner tower angle holes on the overlap are same between old and new for 6, 8. and 10. So they will interchange.
Hole offset on 12 and bigger are same but with bigger bolts.
I have only seen two instances of intentional mixed towers. A dealer in the southern NE sandhills in an area that was tornado prone did a lot of 33 towers with the bottom sections for one size bigger mill and the top 7 stub for actual mill size. They were still standing so might have been a good idea. The other mixed towers are in suburban towers where they are heavier up to the tank and lighter up to the mill.
