Removing the hub from a 10 ft Dempster , so I broke one leg off , ( now extra work )
and keep trying , so I break a second leg off the spider , one would think a person would learn a little quicker , cast iron is brittle !

Hmmm. My detective skills tell me you aren't the one who broke the first one off...

Re: slow learner
Not a lot of material to work with on that hub. Are you going to repair, or try to source a replacement?

Re: slow learner
I will have to source a complete replacement hub , still not off the fan shaft so cut the shaft in 2 places , bearing & race still frozen inside the snout , but turns free , I understand Dempsteritis and why real windmillers dislike working on them .
Re: slow learner
Released my frustration on the hub , now it really needs to be replaced , sawzall the fan shaft but still stuck .

Re: slow learner
Poor Hub what had it ever done to you to treat it so badly?
Re: slow learner
Dang Mike you really showed that hub who the boss is!
Call Dan Benjamin for parts. P M me for the phone number. IF YOU TALK TO HIM, AND HE HELPS YOU, THEN BUY FROM HIM. IT CREATES GOOD KARMA.
Re: slow learner
Well , i got my hub back from the welder , his comments were similar to Wind's . it's amazing what a real craftsmen can save .
