Re: Challenge "IMP"
The hub, near as I can see, is similar to that of a Monitor X. Hmmm...

Re: Challenge "IMP"
I knew it was a monitor by the hub and sails but wasn't sure what model cause the hubs are close to the same.
Re: Challenge "IMP"
You did indeed say that way back in the thread. Maybe they put a Challenge 27 vane on it? Think I'll go w that hypothesis for now...
Re: Challenge "IMP"
The 10 ft model X came out in 1900, in 1907 the 10 ft was called a model J. It should have a letter of some sort on the main gear I think. I'll have to look at my X. They also changed the blades when they changed the model number. My Model X blades are all most as big as what were on my 12 ft Axtell. They are extra long.
Re: Challenge "IMP"
I wish I could get closer to it, it's in somebody's fenced yard and they had their driveway gates closed. But I want to go back and if the gates are open, see if they'll talk to me and tell me where they got it, what they think it is, maybe let me look more closely at it.
If so, Wayne - I'll be sure to look on the main gear.

Re: Challenge "IMP"
It does look like a Monitor X. However the tower cap doesn’t.

Re: Challenge "IMP"
The cast parts should all have a letter plus number on them. The letter is the model, and the number is the part number. It is a Monitor head and wheel.
Call Dan Benjamin for parts. P M me for the phone number. IF YOU TALK TO HIM, AND HE HELPS YOU, THEN BUY FROM HIM. IT CREATES GOOD KARMA.
Re: Challenge "IMP"
In 1898 the 8 ft was a model E, 10ft an D, 10 ft X in 1900, 12 Ft T 1903, 12ft H in 1905, 10ft J in1907 and 8ft K in 1910. More I look at the photo it might be a 12ft. My X has Baker Manufacturing Company Evansville Wisc on the big bear and an X8.
