Worlds Fair Windmills

Generally speaking, this area is for general discussion about windmills, in most cases.

I’m with Wayne and a 30’ tower is fine, but much taller of a tower isn’t.

I remember the windmill exhibit at the Australia pavilion at the 1982 Worlds Fair in Knoxville. In those days, I was more interested in Pac Man than windmills. Wish I could time travel.

Ha Paul, I was there also! I remember the steam launch African Queen was on display. At that time I was (and still am) a steam nut. I didn't get the windmill bug until my 8th grade graduation when a family friend gave me the remains of a Pipe Raymond for a gift.

Paul will appreciate this, in '82, I was interested in fans but they had cowling around them. I was writing engine intermix paperwork for 737-100's.

You can count me among the steam nuts. I have 2, a small portable and a model of a 2 cylinder. No boiler, have to run them one air.

Wish I knew what year that first picture was from .....Great picture ... Then I think about all the other machinery that would have been on display close by , seems like it may have been more interesting , at least to me , than the newest i-phone or A I ....

PS:If anyone really thinks they need some stationary steam engines , I'd be interested in trading some for currency !
