Mystery machines

Have a part you can't identify? Did your parts get mixed up in the shop? Curious if that chunk of metal is a part you should keep? Not sure what kind of wind generator you have? Post photos of the mystery object here for the community to help identify.

Does anyone know the manufacturers of these wind generators?

Mike, I recently picked up 3 tails and was thinking I had something to help you but to me it looks like the V part of the tail is not as deep as your picture. The other 2 tails are Fairbanks Morse and a Wincharger.

I think the larger one is a LeJay. The U-shaped casting for holding the gen, the arched tail irons, somewhat rounded front part of the fin, etc. all look similar to a 32V listed in one of their catalogs I have.

It is a LeJay. This one has a side vane to turn the generator out of the wind rather than a Wincharger type air brake. Since my original post I found it to be plan #31 in the LeJay Manual where it gives all the details on how to build from scratch or buy the castings from LeJay. Could be they offered it finished. Ive yet to find one exactly like it in their catalogs. Nice thing is the detailed plans take the guess work out of making the parts I’m missing. I’ve made some progress on the restoration. Found a Dodge starter generator that was rewound and sold by LeJay with the correct prop hub, prop I had, tower is done and new vanes are done.

The other machine is a 6V Parmak Whirlwind….
