Tail Pin.

Post by Missourimiller »

I’m getting ready to make a new tail pin for a a602 I’ve got some 3/4” round rod some hardened and some regular mild steel laying around. Are these pins hardened from factor or is mild steel ok. Thoughts on both The Hardened pin might not wear as much, but instead wear the pin holes in the case more where the mild steel might not wear the pin holes but wear on the pin it’s self.

Missourimiller, just my take on this. I would use the mild steel
so the pin would wear before the pin holes in the gearbox wears.
You can replace the pin a lot easier than repairing a gearbox.

Kenneth is right. Nothing fancy about that steel. You want to pin to wear first.
Call Dan Benjamin for parts. P M me for the phone number. IF YOU TALK TO HIM, AND HE HELPS YOU, THEN BUY FROM HIM. IT CREATES GOOD KARMA.
