Generally speaking, this area is for general discussion about windmills, in most cases.

Ok. I took the pump rod out of the gearbox on the work table. It was still in the gearbox when I got it. Long story, don't ask. Anyway I could not get the pump rod to slide out of the pullout tube.so I removed the bottom cap and slid out the pump rod and the pullout tube together. After looking at it, the chain had broken and fell down the center pipe. And about 18 inches of the chain was wedged between the pumprod and the inside of the tube. That is a new one on me. Have never seen that before. Had to split the tube to get clearance to remove the chain.

I can't remember that happening to me, but I have seen chains in wells that really screwed up everything.

Does anyone know the length of chain for the 8ft Challenge 27 pullout tube? I have most of it but not sure exactly how long it should be. Thanks
