I walked out to my small bone pile this morning and I saw my Steel
Star staring at me saying, restore me. I didn't have any other projects
going right now so I hooked up my small trailer to the ATV and 3 hours
later I had a disassembled Steel Star. I was hesitant to tear into it but
surprisingly, I was able to disassemble it without breaking anything and
without heat. Penetrating oil and patients was the key here. Was easier
than I anticipated. Not sure how long this project will take, but I will try
to post my progress as I go along. See pics.
And these after disassembly.

Re: F&W Steel Star
Very nice Kenneth do you also have the weight arm and weight. I've been trying to buy this one but the owner won't sell.

Dan, I do not have the weight and arm. I believe
that is the only part I am missing. I have a few other parts, but not much. Will post my progress.

Re: F&W Steel Star
I got all the parts pressure washed today. Also, I spent at least an hour
removing the remnants of the pipe that goes into the weight arm casting.
It was broken off in the casting. I also noticed a couple of other interesting
things with this windmill that I will post tomorrow. See pics.
This is the piece of pipe I chiseled out of that casting.

Re: F&W Steel Star
Dan, can you post the parts diagram?
It would be nice to have it added to the
library.
