Hi! Is it possible to take the entire fan in on piece off the motor while still on the tower.
As my tower is only 17 feet high I was thinking to put up a set of shuffles to be able to work comfortably.
Thanks

Pulling the fan from motor

Oups! *scaffold
Re: Pulling the fan from motor
On Monitor mills it is. You can either take it off assembled, or dissasemble it and remove it. One time i learned the hard way that when you take a section out of a wheel, it spins to enable the heavier part to be at the bottom. Had a scar running down from above my eye, to about halfway down my cheek.. so just to be clear, I wasn't born with these looks. lol
Call Dan Benjamin for parts. P M me for the phone number. IF YOU TALK TO HIM, AND HE HELPS YOU, THEN BUY FROM HIM. IT CREATES GOOD KARMA.
Re: Pulling the fan from motor
My next question is how to get the fan off the motor in one piece?
Thanks

Re: Pulling the fan from motor
On Monitor Hambone, or WB mills, the wheel is a 4 section wheel, for a 6.5 foot mill. 4 bolts on the front of the hub, 4 bolts on the rear of the hub. With 2 people, take out all 8 while someone steadies the wheel. Then you can move/bend an arm to get them out of the way for removal. It's easier to loosen the bolts in one arm, at the end and in the center, away from the hub. That way you can swivel it instead of bending it. I have installed, and removed many, but I have a truck to lift it or let it down.

I think I might have answered that. Maybe you meant something else?

Re: Pulling the fan from motor
Thank you Windy Bob!
I understand what you mean.
I thought it might have been possible to just pop out the entire fan from the motor shaft without unbolting the 8 bolts?
Do you have and idea approximately how much a 6.5 fan weight?

Guessing around 75 pounds. Don't know Canadian measurements. But it's bulky, difficult to handle. I would not do it without another helping.
You are making me nervous.

Thanks buddy!
I’ll surely follow your advise and bring my strongest buddy with me up there in the air on the scaffolds…
I’ll keep you informed, hopefully not from an hospital bed
