Re: Furling a Windmill Question
Wow, I would have never come up with that idea! I'll have a look at the linkage and let you know. I think the cable is tight but I'll check that also. Thanks!

Re: Furling a Windmill Question
Adding on to an old post... I have an A702 in the air and running great but does not furl enough (I think??? - not parallel to wheel). And the brake does not apply enough to stop the wheel. It used to, maybe 6 months ago so I think there has just been some wear - possible because it's not furling ...

Re: Redirecting excess water back into the well
Wow, Ron, that sounds like a really cool system! And a really fun trip coming up. Stop and say Hi anytime! We are going to Glacier NP in three weeks. Never been there - looking forward to it.
Thanks for the info.

Re: Redirecting excess water back into the well
Agree Ron!!! For now that's what we are doing, just letting it overflow. It's honestly not that much because as mentioned I've got the pitman arms on the low flow setting and we're not in a particularly windy area. And I like the idea of keeping the trough water better for the cows. Thanks!

Re: Redirecting excess water back into the well
Yea, that would work but I'm thinking of designing something that would be automatic. For example maybe a float valve in the trough that at a certain level closes the end of the pipe to the trough, and the water builds up in the pipe just enough to then flow a different direction and back to the ...

Redirecting excess water back into the well
I have an 8 ft. Aermotor A702 mill filling a 700 gallon water trough. I have the pitman arms set on the low flow setting and a 2 in. well cylinder and it sill pumps more water than needed. I don't have a good place for overflow water to go, and I don't want to keep turning the windmill on and off ...

Re: Erecting the tower and motor
So we erected the complete assembly, tower, motor, and mill using a telehandler. We routed the lifting strap through the top of the tower, under the bottom of the mast pipe, and then up through the pitman guide hoop. The hoop helped keep the strap in place but all the weight was carried by the ...

Re: Pump not working
Thanks! So leaving it in water overnight made a difference. It is now pumping water! But if the sucker rod is moving slowly, like in a light wind, I get no water. Is that normal? Shouldn't I get a least a little bit of water regardless of the speed, as long as the sucker rod is moving?

Re: Pump not working
I have a similar problem with a new well cylinder from Midland that is not pumping right - I think???? I'm new at this. Checking it in a bucket of water, the lower check valve seems to be holding water just fine but when I pull up on the rod to pump, I have to pull rather quickly for it to draw ...
