Me too,all open gears have their own personality. And there easier to work on then an oil bath every thing is out in the open!!

I agree Dan. When I restored my Star model 12, I thought they would all be easy. Then I restored my first Dempster 12. That was a learning curve. Then I restored an A 702. Not too bad. But I still will take an open gear any day.
