Generally speaking, this area is for general discussion about windmills, in most cases.

Had a nice trip to Austin yesterday. Weather could not have been better. On the surface, the mill appears to be in fairly good shape. The hub looks to be okay, but not able to see all of it as its partially buried. Could not inspect gearset or internals for condition or water/ice damage. No way to tell if the main shaft is bent. Did not see any broken castings. A few wheel arms are slightly bent, and a few blades are tweaked a bit. Tower main body looks good. Some cross braces bent. Typical stuff you find on an old mill that had been taken down and moved partially assembled. Still a lot of unknowns with something this old, large and heavy. The condition of key components cannot be determined in its present configuration. I'd love to rescue this mill however the current asking price is a concern.

Was able to stop by and visit Wind Charger Mike while in town. I could have spent an entire day visiting and talking with him. Thanks for the hospitality Mike!

Paul, wish they could have made a deal with you. What an awesome mill. But not to worry, I'm sure there are people all lined up down the road to buy it. Right.

Since it was in Texas and been sitting there a few years...was it covered with wasps nests?
